Earnings: £32,798 per annum, pro rata

YMCA DownsLink Group Dialogue Therapeutic & Family Services offers counselling services for children and young people with physical disabilities, behavioural, social, and emotional difficulties, autism and learning difficulties. The team delivers a multi-modality therapeutic service working with 2 - 24-year-olds experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. We work closely with CAMHs, the local authority and a range of voluntary and community sector organisations to deliver effective short-term therapeutic interventions.

We are looking for a Wellbeing Counsellor - Ethnicities Specialist to provide assessments and counselling for children and young people from mixed or black and minority ethnic (global majority) groups aged 13+ years and also provide assessments and counselling for any children and young people aged 13+ years. The role will include building partnerships with other global majority services and an advisory role to CYP service managers and clinical leads regarding service user participation, and staff recruitment, advising on the particular needs of minority ethnic groups in therapeutic services.

This role is based on site between Monday to Friday with one evening until 7:30pm expected. Shift pattern to be discussed at interview.

You will have a professional, flexible attitude with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage your time well. You will be confident in identifying and responding to safeguarding concerns and have experience of working with children and young people. You will have a Graduate or Post Graduate level Counselling Diploma of 2 years minimum duration including personal counselling or psychotherapy, and BACP Accreditation/eligibility for accreditation or BACP Registration or be accredited with other relevant professional bodies (UKCP/HCP). You will also have a sound understanding of child protection and vulnerable adult safeguarding issues, policies and procedures.
