Meet The Speaker

Laura Kerbey

Laura Kerbey is a neurodiversity and education specialist, consultant and author based in the UK. She has been working with autistic children and young people since 2001. Laura founded Positive Autism Support and Training (PAST), supporting families who have autistic children and other associated conditions. She also launched KITE Therapeutic Learning Services with a colleague, providing bespoke therapeutic learning programmes for children who are unable to access school due to high anxiety or other needs.

As well as working closely with young people and families, Laura also works as an educational consultant with schools, colleges and universities, providing training and advice to ensure the needs of autistic and PDA learners are fully met. The autism and PDA training programmes that Laura has developed at Level 2 and 3 are accredited by The Open College Network (London Region) and recognised by the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). In 2020, Laura spoke at the first ever conference on PDA in the United States.

Laura is also the author of ‘The Educator’s Experience of PDA’, ‘The Teen’s Guide to PDA’, ‘The Simple Guide to PDA for Kids’ and ‘The Simple Guide to PDA for Parents and Professionals’ (Jessica Kingsley Publishing).

Laura is neurodivergent and received a diagnosis of ADHD in her forties. She also self-identifies as autistic. Laura’s eldest son is ADHD and her youngest son has a rare neurological condition.
