Joan Woodward

Joan Woodward is a retired psychotherapist who worked at the Birmingham Women’s Counselling and Therapy Centre. Previously she was a social worker, researcher and convenor of the psycho-sexual counselling team, Birmingham Brook Advisory Centre. In 1988 Joan published Understanding Ourselves: The Uses of Therapy, with the aim of demystifying therapy and helping people to understand how it can be used. She is also the author of The Lone Twin: Understanding Twin Bereavement and Loss.
