Description

Discover the magic that happens when books meet the therapeutic power of play.

Bibliotherapy – the use of stories to help clients explore their experiences – is an engaging treatment approach that facilitates self-awareness, fosters emotional wellness, and allows clients to gain new perspectives. When kids can identify with a character outside themselves, it provides a safe psychological distance from their problem, creating more room for growth and learning.

In The Bibliotherapy Toolbox, you’ll find a variety of kid-friendly interventions that combine the power of books with the principles of play therapy – bringing the metaphors, symbolism, and lessons of each story to life in a therapeutically meaningful way.

Featuring over 100 story-based, step-by-step interventions you can use right away, The Bibliotherapy Toolbox addresses a wide range of therapeutic topics, including:

  • Anger and other big emotions
  • Resilience and self-esteem
  • Anxiety, fear, perfectionism, and OCD
  • Diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Neurodiversity, ADHD, and autism
  • Trauma and attachment
  • Grief and loss
  • Adoption, foster care, and kinship care
  • Separation, divorce, and sibling rivalry
  • Bullying, boundaries, and kindness

Whether you’re looking to build rapport, explore a client’s worldview, process traumatic stress, or build crucial skills, The Bibliotherapy Toolbox has what you need!
