Working with patients suffering from complex trauma can often feel like riding a roller coaster: extreme reactions, multiple comorbidities, difficulty managing boundaries, and volatile relationships make these clients a challenge even for the most experienced therapists.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy offers a unique and non-pathologizing approach to addressing and overcoming the complexities of relational trauma. It confronts distorted thoughts and beliefs, integrates the body by supporting movement and the release of physical sensations, and facilitates the healing of painful feelings — such as unworthiness, loneliness, and the perception of not feeling loved.
In addition to the two-day training with Frank Anderson, the program includes three online clinical supervision sessions with Stacy Ruse, during which you will directly experience IFS techniques, bring your most challenging clinical cases, and receive essential insights to refine your practice.
By attending this workshop, you will be able to:
- Interpret trauma through an IFS-informed, relational, and neurobiological lens, including acute, complex, developmental, and collective trauma
- Identify and differentiate between protective parts, reactive/extreme parts, and wounded (exiled) parts, and understand their roles and fears
- Apply the fundamental steps of working with parts, including the 6F model and direct access, to support separation and self-guided healing
- Define self energy and its characteristics and recognise how the self emerges when parts step aside
- Integrate neurobiological concepts — including the HPA axis, Polyvagal Theory, attachment, and primary emotions — into trauma treatment
- Recognise the impact of attachment wounds, shame cycles, and internal polarisations on trauma symptoms and relational patterns
- Apply the full spectrum of IFS healing, including the observation and unburdening phases, through integration of complementary models
- Frank Anderson, world’s leading expert on the IFS model and one of the most up-to-date clinicians in trauma treatment, will help you innovate your professional practice through his clinical insights.
- A unique and transformative approach: explore a compassionate, evidence-based approach to resolving complex and dissociative trauma — one that allows clients to access their intrinsic capacity for healing through self-energy.
- Clinical supervision and group discussion: beyond the two days with Frank Anderson, bring your most complex clinical cases to supervision with Stacy Ruse and your community of colleagues.
